Four necessary cookies. Nothing more.
We do not use any third parties. No Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no Hotjar. Here is the exact list of what we store in your browser — and why.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They allow the browser to remember that you are logged in, what language you speak, or where you left off in an in-progress test. Without them, every click would mean starting over.
The EU e-Privacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and applicable national law distinguish between necessary cookies (no consent required, as they are essential for the service you requested) and non-necessary cookies (require opt-in consent). DriverRank uses only the first category — which is why we have no cookie banner.
Which cookies we use
The following list is complete. If a new cookie is added, we will update this page before deploying the change to production.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| dr_session | Session identifier — keeps you logged in and links you to your in-progress test. | Until browser is closed (session) | Necessary |
| XSRF-TOKEN | CSRF token. Protects forms against Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks. | 2 hours | Necessary |
| dr_lang | Your language preference (sk / en / cz / de). So you do not have to switch on every page load. | 365 days | Necessary |
| dr_consent | Remembers that you closed any future consent banner (not currently in use). | 180 days | Necessary |
Local storage (not a cookie)
In addition to cookies, we use your browser's localStorage for three specific purposes. Local storage is not a cookie — our server cannot access it on every request and it is not subject to cookie consent law — it is technically necessary for front-end functionality.
- dr_anon_token — anonymous UUID of your result (if you are not registered). Without it you cannot access your result.
- dr_test_state — in-progress position in the test (current question, answers so far). Allows you to continue after a page refresh.
- dr_ui_prefs — minor UI preferences (open sections in ToC, chart choice in Results).
No tracking, no third-party cookies
No Google Analytics. No Facebook pixel. No Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or Amplitude. No Stripe (we do not accept payments yet). No social sharing widgets. We use Cloudflare as a CDN — it does not access your cookies, it only caches static assets and protects us against DDoS.
We are considering introducing privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible or self-hosted Matomo) to understand which pages are useful and where the flow gets stuck. If we do, we will add a cookie consent banner with a real opt-in and update this page before deployment.
Your rights and opt-out
You can disable even necessary cookies in your browser — the site will not function as expected in that case. If you want to proceed through the browser:
-
Chrome
Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
guide → -
Safari
Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
guide → -
Firefox
Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
guide → -
Edge
Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
guide →
Mobile browsers offer cookie controls in the same sections. Clearing dr_session and dr_anon_token will remove access to your current test — on next load you start fresh.
Context & contact
Full responsibility for data handling rests with the data controller — DriverRank s.r.o., Bratislava. Details of the data categories we process are in the Privacy Policy. Questions about cookies: privacy@mydriverrank.com.
If we deploy anything in the future that requires a cookie banner, registered users will be notified at least 30 days in advance by e-mail and via a top-bar notice on the website.
