DriverRank doesn't put you in one box. You get a tier for Safety and a separate tier for Performance — each on a T1 to T8 scale. Here's what those tiers mean.

Axis 1

Safety — T1 to T8

How you read traffic, anticipate, and keep distance. Not about speed — about staying out of trouble before it starts.

  1. T1
    Fragile novice Hazard perception is weak — reactive, not anticipatory. Calibration matters more than performance at this stage.
  2. T2
    Reactive driver Drives safely in ideal conditions, but anticipation and following distance need deliberate training.
  3. T3
    Typical driver EU population average — basic rules handled, hazard perception remains predominantly reactive.
  4. T4
    Steady driver Solid foundation — consistent spacing, no extreme situations, self-calibration close to measured output.
  5. T5
    Fluent driver Above-average anticipation and hazard perception — reads traffic ahead, maintains strategic spacing.
  6. T6
    Advanced driver Consistent hazard perception, keeps distance, anticipates traffic well in advance.
  7. T7
    Disciplined expert All safety quadrants above 80 — IPSGA and Roadcraft principles are deeply embedded.
  8. T8
    Master · IAM Results at Roadcraft and IAM instructor level — anticipation, calibration, and defensive posture are faultless.

Axis 2

Performance — T1 to T8

How you control the car at the limit — track, sim, academy, motorsport. Independent of safety; two separate axes.

  1. T1
    No limit-driving experience No practical experience with vehicle control at the limit — no track, sim, or academy exposure.
  2. T2
    Early enthusiast Minimal track or skidpad experience — basic vehicle dynamics theory, no structured training.
  3. T3
    Occasional driver A few trackday experiences, vehicle control handled within normal limits, limit situations are unfamiliar.
  4. T4
    Steady racer Regular trackdays, basic vehicle control on dry surface, lap times approaching reference values.
  5. T5
    Fluent racer Consistent lap times, simulator or academy in the record, car control at the limit is reliable.
  6. T6
    Conscious enthusiast Advanced trackday experience, academy completed, vehicle control is deliberate and repeatable.
  7. T7
    Experienced racer Motorsport or instructor experience — vehicle control is reflexive, lap times near professional benchmarks.
  8. T8
    FIA level Professional or semi-professional racing career — vehicle control, lap times, and calibration at FIA standard.

Tiers are anchored in real data and frameworks (IAM RoadSmart, Roadcraft, GDE, FIA) — not in how our users happen to distribute. Your tier means the same today as a year from now.
